Sassy Seats is delighted to offer what many consider the ultimate in classic design: a pair of gilded klismos chairs. The aesthetically pleasing design is literally timeless since it first appeared in Ancient Greece sometime between eighth and sixth centuries B.C. and has continually been reinvented ever since. Nothing defines the word ‘classic’ better than the combination of Greek aesthetics and a style that is timeless.

This pair is a Neoclassical interpretation of the klismos with its fluted carving on tapered legs, seat rail and a fluted spindle crest rail as well as the rosette joints. A large dramatically carved scallop shell on the back splat and its gracefully swerving back suggest the motion of waves in this nautical tribute to the waning Rococo style.

The seat recently reupholstered in Schumacher’s rich black velvet compliments the graceful flow of the gilded woodwork that highlights the craftsmanship of the carvings. Legs that are curved and splayed, flaring outwards make its concave backrest with curves that contour to the human form.

Even the Ancient Greek poet Homer immortalized the klismos chair in “The Iliad” where he noted that it was favored by goddesses. Not only can the comfort and graceful appearance of this iconic design suit any interior, it’s sure to equally please the deities in your home!

Each Sassy Seats chair is a one-of-a-kind reupholstered and restored item. Our chairs are not new nor mass-produced furniture, each one is unique and no two chairs are identical. Because we restore older furniture some signs of wear are noticeable but in good condition, consistent with its age.

Our chairs are NOT recycled, upcycled or repurposed.

Return and Refund Policy

If your purchase arrives damaged, contact Sassy Seats within 2 business days of delivery regarding a refund.  You may be asked to provide photos of the damaged item including the original packaging as delivered.  If an item is lost then a claim will need to be filed with the carrier.

We understand sometimes people buy on impulse but unfortunately any items that are purchased in error (wrong color, pattern, size); we regret that we cannot accept any returns or exchanges, so please read the description carefully.

Once you have unpacked your Sassy Seat and are not happy with it we truly are sorry but we can only accept a return if the item is damaged or if it is not as described.  Please contact us and we will try to resolve any issue you may have.  We are glad to work with you and help you to the best of our ability.

In the unlikely event that a personalized item you collaborated on does not suit you, we regret that we cannot offer any reimbursement. However, because we love creating sassy furniture and want you to have a pleasant experience we promise to work with you to resolve any issues to our mutual satisfaction.

Who covers the shipping cost on returns depends on why it’s being returned.  If an item is lost or damaged in shipment, a claim must be filed with the carrier directly.  Any item sent back must use tracked shipping to maintain proof of shipping and to help avoid any delays or issues in the refund process.  For your protection and peace of mind, we highly recommend insuring a returned item.


We currently only accept payment in US dollars through PayPal.  Once your payment has cleared we will ship your order within 3-5 business days.

Also, any refunds are likewise made through your PayPal account and normally take 3-5 days for a refund to go through.
